If you search "web design company in Kerala" right now you will find hundreds of results. Agencies in Kochi, Trivandrum, Kannur, Thrissur — all claiming to be the best. Most of them have the same templated websites, the same stock testimonials and the same vague pricing.
We have been building websites for businesses across Kerala and internationally for years. This guide is what we would tell a friend before they hired anyone — including us.
1. Look at real work, not template demos
Any agency can buy a premium theme and show you a demo. What you want to see is work they actually built for paying clients. Ask for live URLs. Go to the sites. Check load speed on mobile. Check if it looks like it was actually designed for that specific business or just dropped into a template.
If an agency cannot show you at least five live client websites, that tells you something.
2. Ask about the tech stack
This matters more than most clients realise. A website built on a slow shared hosting WordPress install with a bloated page builder will never perform well — no matter how good it looks in the demo.
Good agencies in Kerala should be able to build on modern stacks like Next.js, React or at minimum a properly optimised WordPress setup on VPS hosting. If the answer is "we use Wix" or "we build on website builders," that is a red flag for anything serious.
3. Check if SEO is built in or bolted on
A website that looks great but does not rank is expensive decoration. Good web design agencies in Kerala should build SEO into the site from the start — proper URL structures, meta tags, heading hierarchy, page speed, structured data.
Ask them: "What does your SEO process look like during the build?" If the answer is "we add SEO after the site is done," they are doing it wrong.
4. Understand what happens after launch
Most client complaints about web agencies are not about the design. They are about what happens after handover. The site breaks. Someone asks for a change. There is no support number. The agency has moved on.
Before you hire anyone ask: what is your support model after launch? What is the response time? Is there a maintenance plan? The answers to these questions matter more than the price.

A proper business website in Kerala should cost between ₹25,000 and ₹1,50,000 depending on complexity. If someone quotes you ₹5,000 for a "full website with SEO and hosting," what you are getting is a template on shared hosting that nobody will ever find on Google.
You get what you pay for. The difference between a ₹10,000 website and a ₹75,000 website is not the number of pages. It is the quality of the build, the speed, the SEO and the ongoing support.
